TERMS OF REFERENCE 

Position: Technical Specialist, Health

Location: New Delhi/Bangalore


Working as a public health consultant means that you’ll constantly be involved in making the world a healthier, happier, and safer place. As a Technical Specialist, you will be part of all activities necessary to operate one or more public health programmes. You will be part of teams implementing and executing a variety of challenging assignments within or outside India. The role requires motivation, cooperation and willingness to work overtime during strict deadlines. While working and travelling together, it is important that you make a positive contribution to the team and are instrumental in reaching goals and milestones. 


In order to be successful, public health consultants must follow the health trends, possess good analytical skills and use data effectively to identify what steps must be taken to address public health concerns. Strong writing skills are a must for public health consultants to create clear, concise reports that communicate their recommendations for new policy changes. Public health technical specialists often work in multiple locations, so flexibility and good organizational skills are important to balance their workload. You should also be great communicators with the interpersonal skills to present your findings and work with their clients to pioneer programs that will boost health.


The specifics:

Roles & Responsibilities:


  1. To manage, execute and deliver assignments on time within budget and with quality
  2. Developing frameworks, documentation and capacity building
  3. Data collection, data analysis and logistics in health research
  4. Proposal development – identify leads and assist in converting these into meaningful opportunities
  5. Partnership development and maintenance
  6. Strategic positioning and representation of assignments and organizations in forums including workshops and conferences
  7. Stay up-to-date on recent developments in the public health sector, identify gaps in current knowledge and maintain a personal development plan


Education: Master's degree in Public Health, Health Systems, Epidemiology, International relations, health policy,health science, biology, nursing, social work, psychology, environmental science, global health or any other relevant degree


Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience


Demonstrated Knowledge Required: 

One or more of the following areas need to be demonstrated: public health, health systems, epidemiology, International relations, health policy, health science, biology, water, sanitation, gender, biostatistics, social work, psychology, environmental science, global health, behaviour science, Monitoring and Evaluation, Governance, Nutrition, Health finance, Communicable and Non-communicable diseases, Sexual and Reproductive health and Rights etc., 


Skills: 

You will possess


  1. Strong analytical and writing skills
  2. Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
  3. Knowledge of English, and at least one Indian language
  4. Attention to detail
  5. Experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  6. Ability to learn quickly and solve problems in a creative manner

Measurement/ Assessment:


You will be measured on the accomplishment and delivery of all components of the role as they are agreed upon between the incumbent and the reporting officer.


The measurement will also include demonstrated elements of commitment, passion, accountability, ideation, flexibility, accessibility, and system and process management as well as the expected work ethics
