Job Description - Programme Manager , New Delhi


Position Overview - The Programme Manager will lead the effective planning, coordination, and management of social development programmes, ensuring alignment with donor requirements, organizational systems, and project timelines. The role requires strong coordination across internal teams including Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation (MLE), implementation teams, and senior leadership to drive high-quality programme delivery and evidence-based decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning & Management

  1. Lead the development and execution of programme workplans, timelines, and deliverables in line with donor commitments and organizational priorities.
  2. Oversee day-to-day programme operations, ensuring adherence to project lifecycle processes and internal quality standards.
  3. Monitor progress against targets, identify risks or delays, and support adaptive course correction.

Donor Management & Compliance

  1. Ensure full compliance with donor requirements, including reporting, documentation, budget adherence, and visibility guidelines.
  2. Coordinate preparation of high-quality donor reports, proposals, and presentations in collaboration with internal teams.
  3. Serve as a key point of contact for donor communication, reviews, and field visits.

Internal Coordination & Collaboration

  1. Work closely with the MLE team to integrate monitoring frameworks, track progress, and support evidence-driven decision-making.
  2. Collaborate with implementation teams to ensure smooth on-ground execution and timely achievement of outputs.
  3. Engage with senior leadership to provide programme updates, insights, and strategic recommendations.

Documentation, Learning & Knowledge Management

  1. Produce clear and compelling documentation including progress reports, case studies, briefs, and internal updates.
  2. Capture learnings and support dissemination of best practices across teams and partners.
  3. Contribute to organizational planning, strategy discussions, and process improvement.

Financial Oversight

  1. Monitor programme budgets in coordination with finance teams, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  2. Support financial reporting, forecasting, and donor audits as needed.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, or related field.
  2. 5–8 years of relevant programme management experience in the social development or NGO sector.
  3. Strong understanding of the project lifecycle (community-based programme implementation), donor-driven programme management, and social development sector dynamics.
  4. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and multiple stakeholders.
  5. Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
  6. Preference to be given to candidates having familiarity with workplace interventions, supply chain strengthening through workforce wellbeing programs
  7. Preference shall be given to candidates having demonstrable facilitation skills especially on issues of gender equality / digital financial literacy / lifeskills.
