Data Scientist- Swasti


1. Background

The project aims to develop a digital continuum of care platform for pregnancy, tracking women from conception through antenatal care, delivery, and postpartum period. The program will integrate data from multiple digital systems and facility records to create longitudinal pregnancy tracking, high-risk pregnancy identification, service coverage monitoring, outcome tracking, and decision-support dashboards.

In addition to this project, the Data Scientist will also support overall health data analytics, dashboard development, data systems strengthening, and advanced analytics across programs.


2. Objective of the Role

The Data Scientist will be responsible for:

  1. Designing and managing health data systems
  2. Integrating and analyzing program data
  3. Developing dashboards and analytics frameworks
  4. Supporting high-risk pregnancy tracking and maternal health analytics
  5. Developing predictive analytics models
  6. Supporting data-based decision making across health programs

The role combines data engineering, analytics, visualization, and data science functions.


3. Scope of Work

The Data Scientist will support broader data and analytics work across health programs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Management and Systems
  2. Design and manage databases and data structures
  3. Develop data pipelines and data integration systems
  4. Create data dictionaries and data standards
  5. Ensure data quality and validation frameworks
  6. Support integration of multiple digital platforms


  1. Data Analysis and Insights
  2. Analyze program data to generate insights
  3. Conduct trend analysis, cohort analysis, and outcome analysis
  4. Support monitoring and evaluation frameworks
  5. Conduct impact and contribution analysis
  6. Generate periodic analytics reports


  1. Dashboard Development
  2. Design and develop dashboards for program monitoring
  3. Build district, facility, and program dashboards
  4. Develop visualization tools for decision-making
  5. Automate reporting systems


  1. Advanced Analytics and Modelling
  2. Develop predictive models and risk scoring tools
  3. Conduct statistical analysis and modelling
  4. Conduct geospatial and hotspot analysis
  5. Develop machine learning models where relevant


  1. Decision Support and Data Use
  2. Support program teams in interpreting data
  3. Develop decision-support analytics tools
  4. Support review meetings with data insights
  5. Build capacity of teams on data use


  1. Documentation and Knowledge Management
  2. ○Document data architecture and analytics frameworks
  3. ○Develop data use guidelines
  4. ○Develop indicator definitions and metadata
  5. ○Maintain analytics documentation


4. Required Qualifications

Education

Master’s / PhD in:

  1. Data Science
  2. Statistics / Biostatistics
  3. Computer Science
  4. Public Health Informatics
  5. Health Analytics
  6. Engineering or related field


5. Experience

  1. 3–6 years experience in data science/data analytics. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the health sector.
  2. Experience working with large datasets
  3. Experience in dashboard development
  4. Experience in statistical analysis and modelling
  5. Experience in health/public health data preferred
  6. Experience working with government data systems preferred
  7. Experience in predictive modelling / machine learning preferred


6. Technical Skills

The candidate should have experience in:

  1. Python / R
  2. SQL / Database management
  3. Power BI / Tableau / Metabase / DHIS2 / similar tools
  4. Data visualization
  5. Statistical analysis
  6. Machine learning and predictive modelling
  7. Data cleaning and data pipeline development
  8. Excel advanced analytics
  9. GIS / spatial analysis (preferred)

9. Duration

Initial contract: 12 months

Extendable based on performance and project needs


10. Location

Bangalore or Anantapur or Vijayawada based, with travel to districts
