Position Title: Communications Manager

Location: Bangalore, with travel to field locations as required

Reporting to: CEO, Vrutti


I. Background

Vrutti Livelihoods Impact Organization is dedicated to enhancing the livelihoods of marginalized communities in India through sustainable development initiatives, knowledge and transformative actions. II. Purpose of the Position

The Communications Manager is responsible for contributing to the development of a strategic communication plan that enhances the Vrutti's visibility, delivering the plan, engaging target audiences, and supporting it's overall mission and goals.

III. Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Planning
  2. Contribute to the development of a comprehensive communication strategy that supports organizational objectives 
  3. Execute the communication strategies 
  4. Collaborate with senior leadership to align communication initiatives with organisational goals.
  5. Content Development
  6. Create, edit, and promote high-quality content for various platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, annual reports, and press releases.
  7. Ensure all communications are consistent with the organization's brand, voice, and messaging.
  8. Ensure all communication products are backed by evidence and showcase Vrutti’s knowledge and skill in its area. 
  9. Capacity building
  10. Support and guide and build capacities of the Vrutti team members in executing the communication strategies and campaigns on the ground.

  11. Stakeholder Engagement
  12. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, partners, and constituencies.
  13. Engage with external communications vendors for quality and accurate product design and development
  14. Engage with internal teams to ensure (a) a cohesive approach to communications; (b) brand compliance across all field and sectoral activities
  15. Work in collaboration with other Catalyst Group entities to share, leverage resources, offer and receive support
  16. Monitoring and Evaluation
  17. Track and analyses the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
  18. Prepare regular reports on communications activities and outcomes for management; including the Vrutti Annual Report 

IV. Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or a related field, with a proven track record in team leadership.

  3. Skills:
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate/collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders, including communities that Vrutti works with
  6. Proficiency in digital communications tools and platforms, including social media.
  7. Experience with media relations
